Professor Gerhard Kloesch and colleagues at the University of Vienna studied eight unmarried, childless couples in their 20s.
Each couple was asked to spend 10 nights sleeping together and 10 apart while the scientists assessed their rest patterns with questionnaires and wrist activity monitors.
The next day the couples were asked to perform simple cognitive tests and had their stress hormone levels checked.
But women apparently managed to sleep more deeply when they did eventually drop off, since they claimed to be more refreshed than their sleep time suggested.
Their stress hormone levels and mental scores did not suffer to the same extent as the men.

It’s nice to hear that sometimes from other players, or ex-players, but it doesn’t make a difference who says you’re going to win, lose tournaments. That doesn’t affect you.”
Andy Murray was not fazed by the big names who tipped him for the title.
“Serena is a great athlete and a great girl and we always have some good laughs in the locker rooms and that’s what makes it fun as well.”
Kim Clijsters will not be overawed when she faces Serena Williams in the semi-finals.
“She is such a great person and I only wish the best for her. It will be a great match. She has nothing to lose and is having so much fun. It makes me so happy.”
Serena on Clijsters. Not exactly a grudge match then.
“I felt like an elephant sometimes, just trying to move. Even two steps was terrible.”
Clijsters recalls picking up a racquet for the first time since giving birth, three months after the arrival of her daughter Jada Ellie.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has appointed cleric Sadeq Larijani to be the new head of the country’s judiciary.
Mr Larijani is a member of the Guardian Council, the powerful body that oversaw Iran’s disputed presidential election.
He is also the younger brother of the Speaker of parliament, Ali Larijani.
Analysts say his appointment comes at a key time for the Iranian judiciary, which must decide whether to charge people detained over election protests.
Sadeq Larijani, who has been appointed to a five-year term, takes over from Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahrudi.
Iran is currently trying more than 100 detainees over their alleged involvement in the protests.

Jailed Liverpool fan Michael Shields has won an important battle at the High Court in his bid for a free pardon.
The 22-year-old is serving a 10-year sentence for the attempted murder of a barman in Bulgaria in 2005, but has always maintained his innocence.
High Court judges have ruled Justice Secretary Jack Straw has the power to issue a pardon to Shields. Mr Straw is now considering a decision.
Shields’ family said they hoped he would be home for Christmas.
Mr Straw had previously insisted he did not have the power to free him and the case went to the High Court in London.

Finance ministers from the world’s most powerful economies have agreed a series of measures to try to regulate the global banking system.
They want a system that rewards long-term performance rather than short-term risk-taking.
However the G20 meeting in London did not agree on specific limits on the amounts individual bankers get paid.
Britain, the US and Canada opposed the idea, but the Financial Stability Board is to examine the issue.
It will report back to the summit of G20 leaders in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania later this month.

To be honest, we are not perfect couple. We have gong through a lot of ups and downs in our relationships, but even in the darkest moments of our marriage, neither of us gave up. Instead we tried our best to work things out and therefore, after many years, we are still together. It is not easy considering the fact that we are so much unlike. We have different interests, different social circle, different almost in everything. You are a party guy, and I am a stay-at-home type. You are sort of happy-go-lucky person, and I am kind of a worrier. You seek thrills in poker game and stock market, while I prefer to find comforts in reading and writing. It’s easy to fall in love with someone so opposite to your own type, but living together is another story. Somehow we managed that and our marriage survived. To achieve that, both of us made some compromises: I tolerate your sluggishness at house chores and your occasional selfishness while you put up with my spouts of insecurity.

Only after talking with a friend in Singapore last night, did I come up with the idea to write this blog…She did not agree her country depended on sunlight while i was sure sunlight was one of the most important factions!!!without sunlight,SG was not able to development so rapidly…Thanks to their leaders,SG’s development is a great success! taken in SG by my friend
Sunlight is enough…
In 1970s…A singaporian leader complained about SG account of the absence of resoure in SG…He was in trouble with the development of SG with little resoure…At that time,a chinese leader wrote to him:You have sunlight.Sunlight is enough!!!…After that,a load of trees were planted in SG with a rapid development taken place…the environment has improved a lot…Now,SG has becomed a fine city in sunlight!
Sunlight is everywhere..
Sunlight is what you own…
Sunlight is adequate..
With sunlight,Are you able to make the best of it?
With sunlight, can you appreciate it as a diamond ring?
with sunlight, are you sure you are a lucky dog?
with sunlight, can you smile at life?
It is sunny today…The sun is shining brightly…Spring retures and everything comes back to life…A new life is aroused from its fast

Springtime now! When I wake up in the morning, I will hear birds chanting in the fresh air and see the window glittering in the morning sunshine. It is a refreshing time for me and all the creatures in the world. The flowers bloom and trees sprouts. It is all after the rainy season that we found the whole world has put on new verdant coats. How lovely the world is!
Now when I wake up to each new day, I would ask myself of what should I do in the new days that is coming. It seems that I was wasting my time in the past year without doing anything worthwhile. So maybe, or absolutely, I should do my best to the job I’m taking and never think about retreat when in trouble.
Okay, to better enjoy this delicate spring, I would take a short travel with my friend this weekend. I am poor, but I can enjoy the simple and meaningful life at least. May all our lives be filled with cheer and happiness.

Once I was asked, “Do you still prefer hearing true words, even when they would deeply hurt your self-confidence or self-respect?” After a few seconds’ hesitation, I replied, “yes!”
I hate lies, whether they are well-meaning or spiteful. I merely want to know the truth. Only when I know my real level can I make progress. If you don’t want somebody to be unhappy with the truth, you’d better not tell him or her anything about that. But this does not mean you can tell lies, because telling nothing does not equal to telling something untrue.
“Do as you would be done by others.” According to this wisdom, I shouldn’t tell lies. On the contrast, I did.
I am used to cutting down the price against the actual one when mom asked me, “how much is your coat?” however, now I have even more to lie to her. Sorry, mom! But we did have the gap on many things. And when the truth has something to do with another person, to tell the truth or not is not up to me.
So, lies would continue, to me or to this world. In fact, it is unrealistic to try to put an end to lies, especially in modern time, when lies are all around us.
